Thailand's government plans to begin collecting a tourist fee from foreign nationals in the first quarter of 2027, according to infohub.kz.
As reported by NUR.KZ, citing TASS, which in turn refers to the Bangkok Post, the fee will be 450 baht per foreign tourist.
In the first phase, the new measure will apply to travelers arriving in the country by air.
The measure is expected to generate about 8 billion baht ($239 million) in annual budget revenue.
"Part of the funds will be allocated to medical insurance for travelers, which will save approximately 7 billion baht ($209 million) in state funds annually allocated for these purposes. The remaining funds will go to a special fund for the development and modernization of tourism infrastructure," the report said.
Thus, if Thailand does introduce such a fee, Kazakh tourists will have to pay just over 6,000 tenge.
