Three suspects have been detained in the Pavlodar region in connection with the deaths of six people in a sewer manhole on the premises of Aqtogai Milk LLP. Among the deceased is a minor, and one other person has been hospitalized, reports infohub.kz.
Earlier, some media reported the possible detention of Alexander Terentyev, a deputy of the Pavlodar regional maslikhat and businessman linked to the Aqtogai Milk farm. However, the police department of the Pavlodar region did not confirm this, citing investigative secrecy.
The police reported that the investigative department is conducting a pre-trial investigation into the incident. "As part of the criminal case, a set of necessary investigative measures is being carried out to establish all circumstances. Currently, three suspects have been detained and placed in a temporary detention facility," the police department informed.
The identities of the detainees have not been disclosed, and other details of the investigation are also not being released in accordance with Article 201 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Recall that the tragedy occurred in the village of Zholaman, where six people died while working in a sewer manhole on the territory of the Aqtogai Milk dairy farm. According to preliminary data, the workers were fixing a malfunction in an electric pump. One more person was injured and taken to the hospital in serious condition.
Alexander Terentyev expressed condolences to the families of the victims and promised that the enterprise would provide them with necessary assistance.
