In the Tupkaragan district of the Mangystau region, emergency workers from the Ministry of Emergency Situations conducted a rescue operation on the Caspian Sea coast. Due to a sharp deterioration in weather conditions, an inflatable boat with people on board was carried away from the shore, reports infohub.kz.
The incident occurred last night. Three people were in the rubber boat. Strong gusty winds cut off their path to the shore and carried the vessel out to open sea. Rescue units immediately set out to search for the missing.
Ministry personnel quickly located the drifting boat and safely brought all passengers to land. The rescued individuals did not require medical assistance. Specialists once again remind citizens of the need to observe water safety rules. When winds intensify, going out to sea is strictly prohibited.
Recall that on September 24, during naval exercises on the Caspian Sea coast, the weather worsened and winds intensified. As a result, a group of servicemen was swept out to sea. According to updated data from the Mangystau regional akimat, 17 people ended up in the water. 14 of them died. A government commission headed by Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev is working at the scene. He ordered search operations to be conducted around the clock and necessary assistance to be provided to the families of the victims. The causes and circumstances of the incident are being established as part of a criminal case.
President Qasym-Jomart Toqaev declared September 25 a day of national mourning for the deceased servicemen.
