On September 13, Abai Square in Almaty will host Tilu Fest for the first time — a free festival of education and music. The program features lectures and discussions on education and language learning, the stories of young Kazakhstanis, and an evening concert with popular artists, according to infohub.kz.
During the daytime portion, guests can learn more about applying to foreign universities, study-abroad opportunities and career prospects. All talks will be delivered in Kazakh. Kazakhstanis connected with Stanford, Oxford, Harvard and UPenn will share their experience.
Indian educator Ranjitsinh Disale, winner of the Global Teacher Prize 2020, will be a special guest. He will speak about his experience and the role of education in young people's lives.
A separate part of the program will be dedicated to students and participants of Tilu's "Auyl Grant" project, which allows young people from rural regions of Kazakhstan to study English for free. Among them is Dina Oralbekkyzy, who after her studies began teaching English herself in her village. Teachers and students will also be honored at the festival for academic achievements.
In the evening, the program will continue with a concert. From 19:00 to 22:30, YENLIK, Alisher Konysbayev, Aidana Medenova, Zattybek Kopbosynuly, ADIL, ALPHA, Kazybek Kuraish, Kairat Tuntekov, Yerke Yesmakhan and RAIM will perform on Abai Square. Organizers expect around 10,000 spectators. Admission to the festival is free.
Earlier, Kursiv LifeStyle reported that Almaty is actively preparing to celebrate City Day. The main events of the celebration will take place on September 19-20.
