President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has instructed the government and regional governors to pay special attention to the quality of roads both in cities and beyond. The head of state made the statement while speaking to participants of the Taza Qazaqstan campaign, according to Akorda, as reported by infohub.kz.
The president described the state of the road network as an unresolved problem. He emphasized that appropriate measures would be taken in cases of law violations.
"This is our 'Achilles' heel,' and we must admit it. No one has been able to solve this problem (which is shameful in itself) or simply did not want to, and that is already sabotage. We will take measures with the full strictness of the law," Tokayev said.
In addition, the head of state demanded that urban planning centers in all regions of the country be activated without delay. According to him, these structures should help shape a coherent architectural appearance of cities.
As an example, Tokayev cited the capital's Urban Planning Center, where models for urban space development and Astana's design code are being developed. According to the president, this work also draws on foreign experience. He also noted the development of digitalization and artificial intelligence in Kazakhstan.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that Tokayev promised to take personal control over construction quality and proposed extending the experience of the capital's Urban Planning Center to other regions. During the same speech, the president initiated the development of a national cleanliness standard.
