President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has approved new state awards: the Shamsi Kaldaiakov medal and the honorary title "Honored Artist of Kazakhstan". They will be awarded for special contributions to the development of culture, reports infohub.kz.

As noted by the press secretary of the head of state, Aibek Smadiyarov, culture and art are the unshakable foundation of national identity. In the new Constitution, comprehensive support for national culture is enshrined at the highest legal level as a fundamental principle of the state.

"In this regard, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, has decided to include in the list of state awards the medal 'Shamsi Kaldaiakov' and the honorary title 'Honored Artist of Kazakhstan'," Smadiyarov said.

The new awards will be given to Kazakh citizens who have made significant contributions to the development of national culture, including in the fields of music and visual arts.

Earlier it was reported that on the birthday of the outstanding composer Shamsi Kaldaiakov, his image appeared on the Ferris wheel in Astana. Recall that on August 15, the capital celebrated the composer's birthday on a large scale: musical events, performances, and blitz surveys dedicated to his life and work took place in different parts of the city.
