Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier held talks in an expanded format. The head of state thanked his German counterpart for the invitation to visit Germany and emphasized that the high dynamics of contacts at the highest level indicate the strategic and comprehensive nature of bilateral cooperation, reports infohub.kz.
According to the Kazakh president, Germany is the republic's key partner in Europe, bound by strong ties of friendship and mutual trust, as well as significant potential for developing practical cooperation.
"Today our relations are steadily advancing, covering an ever-wider range of areas. This positive momentum is largely driven by active political dialogue at the highest level, supported by consistent interaction between governments and contacts between business circles of the two countries. The meetings of the Intergovernmental Working Group and the Kazakh-German Business Council for Strategic Cooperation held in Berlin ahead of my visit confirmed our mutual desire to further expand mutually beneficial partnership," said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
The head of state particularly noted the dynamic development of trade, economic and investment cooperation.
"In 2025, bilateral trade reached $4.5 billion. Positive dynamics continue this year. In the first seven months of this year, mutual trade exceeded $2.6 billion. More than 1,400 companies with German capital are currently registered in Kazakhstan. Over 20 years, cumulative investment from Germany has amounted to $8 billion. A clear example of our interaction is cooperation with leading German companies such as CLAAS Group, Rhenus Logistics, Siemens Energy, Linde and others," emphasized the President of Kazakhstan.
During the talks, special attention was paid to strengthening cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries. In particular, the heads of state confirmed their commitment to expanding interaction in higher education, medicine and culture.
