Kazakhstan will need 2.9 million specialists by 2035, including 1.8 million in blue-collar professions, President Qasym-Jomart Toqaev said at the first session of the Qazaqstan Halq Keñesi, according to infohub.kz.
According to the head of state, the largest personnel shortages are expected in industry, construction, agriculture, and information technology. He noted that Kazakhstan currently has 763 colleges with more than 500,000 students enrolled.
"For those who have the necessary skills but no specialized diploma, there are 22 centers for recognition of professional qualifications, where they can officially confirm their competencies," Toqaev said.
The president also highlighted the Joltap project, which is being implemented in Astana. It offers short-term training with direct business involvement in blue-collar and digital professions—from seamstress and welder to web developer and designer.
"Over three years, more than 22,000 people have completed training, 60% are employed, and about 2,000 have started their own businesses," he added.
The head of state called for scaling up this successful experience to all regions and creating conditions under which every Kazakh citizen can find their place in life, support their family through honest work, and benefit the homeland.
