Kazakhstan has entered the ranks of the world's 40 most competitive countries, President Qasym-Jomart Toqaev said, speaking at the first session of the Qazaqstan Halq Keñesi in Astana. The head of state intends to secure Kazakhstan's status as a Middle Power on the world stage and to promote the country's history and culture abroad, the website infohub.kz reports.
According to the President, Kazakhstan needs to develop international cooperation and attract more investment.
"We will continue to work hard to improve the well-being of our people. We need to deepen international cooperation and increase the volume of investment flowing into the country," the President said.
Toqaev noted that he regularly takes part in international forums, meets with leaders of other countries and investors, and holds talks with heads of state and heads of international organizations in Astana.
"The goal before me is crystal clear – to position Kazakhstan on the world stage as a Middle Power, to popularize our history and culture internationally, to defend state interests and to promote Kazakhstan's opportunities. I have no other intentions," Toqaev said.
The President also called this task a goal for all Kazakhstanis. He noted that our citizens have not only become direct witnesses of the reforms, they are already feeling their results.
Over the past 7 years, gross domestic product has grown by 29% and reached 306 billion dollars. The volume of gold and foreign exchange reserves and assets of the National Fund exceeded 138 billion dollars. Over this period, more than 162 billion dollars in investment was attracted to our country.
According to the head of state, thanks to active efforts Kazakhstan has joined the ranks of the world's 40 most competitive countries.
