Kazakhstan intends to become a reliable partner for the Gulf states in the area of food security. This was stated by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the Kazakhstan-Oman business forum held in Astana during the state visit of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said of Oman, according to infohub.kz.

The head of state called for expanding cooperation in agriculture, emphasizing Kazakhstan's potential for long-term partnership.

"My country, which has vast agricultural land, is ready to become a reliable partner in ensuring long-term food security for the entire Gulf region," the president said.

Tokayev also identified transport and logistics as another promising area. According to him, Kazakhstan views Oman as an important transit partner due to its geographical location, developed port infrastructure, and access to the markets of the Middle East and Africa.

Kazakhstan, in turn, possesses significant natural resources, a developed industrial base, and is located on emerging transport routes between Asia and Europe. The president also noted that the country has concrete plans for developing transport links.

In energy and mining, Kazakhstan and Oman already have years of cooperation experience. Tokayev proposed using the two countries' capabilities to create new joint ventures.

At the forum, the president welcomed the signing of an agreement to launch a joint investment structure between Samruk-Kazyna JSC and the Oman Investment Authority.

"This important initiative will make it possible to mobilize financing and attract additional investment," Tokayev noted.

He also sees potential for cooperation with the recently established Oman International Financial Center. Direct ties between the financial institutions of the two countries, he said, will open new opportunities for mutual investment.

To develop trade and economic relations, the president emphasized the importance of the Treaty on Mutual Protection of Investments. The document is intended to provide investors with more predictable, transparent, and reliable conditions for implementing projects.

The Kazakhstan-Oman Business Council will help establish direct contacts between entrepreneurs. Tokayev called it a practical platform for business interaction.

According to the head of state, the high-level talks were held in an atmosphere of trust and were substantive. Now the key task is to fill the reached agreements with concrete projects.

"I call on entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan and Oman to make full use of the opportunities of the Business Council to establish partnerships, develop promising projects, and expand mutual investment," the president said.

The forum was attended by representatives of leading companies and business circles of the two countries. Speeches were also given by Renat Bekturov, managing director of the Astana International Financial Center, Nurlan Zhakupov, chairman of the board of Samruk-Kazyna JSC, and Abdulsalam bin Mohammed Al-Murshidi, president of the Oman Investment Authority.
