President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev spoke at the Central Asia – Republic of Korea business summit, where he proposed that Korean companies establish joint production aimed at Eurasian markets, infohub.kz reports.
A separate section of the head of state's speech was devoted to agriculture. Tokayev said that last year Kazakhstan harvested a record grain crop of around 27 million tonnes.
The president noted that the republic exports agricultural products to more than 70 countries worldwide.
"Kazakhstan has land resources, while Korea is a recognized leader in highly efficient and technology-driven agriculture," he said.
In addition, the head of state proposed combining the efforts of the two countries to create a joint food industry cluster focused on production, deep processing and export of products to foreign markets.
"Kazakhstan offers Korean companies not just a capacious market, but broad opportunities for locating production, introducing technologies and entering the markets of the Eurasian continent," the president added.
According to the Kazakh leader, this will open new prospects for Korean business and deliver a real effect for the entire region.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that Tokayev proposed a new formula for Korea's engagement with Central Asia.
