Kazakh President Qasym-Jomart Toqaev met with South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, congratulating her on her recent appointment and wishing her success in her new role, infohub.kz reports.
The head of state noted that relations between the two countries continue to develop within the framework of a strategic partnership.
"Kazakh-Korean relations are currently progressing steadily. Within our strategic partnership, numerous important initiatives are being implemented on a mutually beneficial basis. Your country is among Kazakhstan's top ten trade and investment partners. More than a thousand joint ventures with Korean capital operate in our country. However, we still face many responsible tasks. Therefore, I am confident that through joint efforts, as a single team, we will successfully implement all planned initiatives," the president said.
According to Toqaev, Kazakhstan is interested in further expanding cooperation with South Korea.
The head of state also emphasized that Kazakhstan has created a favorable business and investment climate.
"Along with large Korean corporations, favorable conditions have been created for small and medium-sized businesses. The governments of Kazakhstan and Korea are taking the necessary measures in this direction. In particular, the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, as well as the Business Council, are working effectively. In addition, the necessary legal framework has been established," Qasym-Jomart Toqaev said.
The president emphasized the role of existing cooperation mechanisms between the two countries in implementing joint projects.
Earlier it was reported that South Korea could build and upgrade airports in Kazakhstan. It also became known that Lotte Group will build its first hotel under its brand in Almaty and participate in the development of Alatau City. The company will also continue its work in Kazakhstan's food industry and logistics.
