Kazakh President Qasym-Jomart Toqaev met with Oliver Pfann, senior vice president of Linde GmbH, to discuss new projects with potential investments of up to $500 million. The Akorda press service announced the talks, according to infohub.kz.
The head of state welcomed the German company's plans to expand its presence in the country. The participants separately noted the signing of an agreement between Linde and Qarmet to build a new air separation unit in Temirtau.
The two sides reviewed prospects for joint projects in the petrochemical industry. Qasym-Jomart Toqaev spoke about the development of petrochemical and chemical clusters in the Atyrau and Mangystau regions and invited Linde to take part in promising projects in these sectors.
The president paid particular attention to the company's work in carbon capture and storage, as well as its plans to develop hydrogen infrastructure. According to him, these areas align with Kazakhstan's goals of transitioning to a green economy.
The head of state also praised Linde's contribution to the country's industrial sector. The company is among the world leaders in industrial gases and engineering. Its technologies are used in metallurgy, mining, chemicals and energy, healthcare, the electronics industry and high-tech manufacturing.
Oliver Pfann thanked Qasym-Jomart Toqaev for supporting Linde's initiatives and expressed readiness to expand the partnership and build new production facilities in Kazakhstan.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that Siemens is ready to take part in building data center infrastructure in Kazakhstan and to offer solutions for modernizing power grids, automation and water supply. The meeting with Toqaev also covered a joint project between Siemens and Silk Road Electronics to upgrade Qarmet's equipment.
During his visit to Germany, Qasym-Jomart Toqaev announced new strategic agreements and invited Chancellor Friedrich Merz to pay a state visit to Kazakhstan in 2027.
Following talks with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the two sides adopted a joint declaration. In 2025, trade between the two countries reached $4.5 billion, while the inflow of German investment into Kazakhstan over 20 years amounted to $8 billion. Frank-Walter Steinmeier was also awarded the Order of Altyn Qyran.
