Ahead of the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC), President of Kazakhstan Qasym-Jomart Toqaev held a Kazakhstan-China roundtable on technological cooperation in Shanghai, reports infohub.kz.

The event was attended by key industry leaders, including representatives of Xiaomi. Kazakhstan's digital development strategy was presented to them.

One of the key events of the visit was a meeting between President Tokayev and Lu Weibing, partner and president of Xiaomi Group. Lu Weibing discussed Xiaomi's current results, investments in R&D, and plans to expand operations in Kazakhstan, inviting President Tokayev to visit the company's headquarters. The Kazakh leader noted the high importance of cooperation with Xiaomi and emphasized that Kazakhstan prioritizes the development of artificial intelligence. He instructed relevant agencies to ensure effective interaction with the company on all key areas.
