Kazakh President Qasym-Jomart Toqaev held talks with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, during which the two sides discussed bilateral cooperation and agreed to step up interaction, the website infohub.kz reports.
The head of state expressed gratitude for the warm reception. The two sides reaffirmed their firm commitment to strengthening multifaceted cooperation between Kazakhstan and Germany and stressed that the governments of both countries will work to create conditions for expanding interaction.
As the President of Kazakhstan noted, Germany is among the republic's key trade partners and leading foreign investors. Significant potential for further expansion of cooperation exists in such areas as industry, critical minerals, transport and logistics, digital technologies, and the production of high value-added goods, including mechanical engineering and the chemical industry.
In addition, a thorough exchange of views took place on multilateral cooperation. An agreement was reached to intensify interaction within international structures, including in the Central Asia–Germany format.
The president and chancellor then continued talks with the participation of members of the two countries' delegations. The head of our state stressed that the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and Germany rests on solid political trust, mutual economic interests, and close people-to-people ties.
"The volume of mutual trade last year reached 4.5 billion dollars, increasing by 13.4%. The cumulative inflow of investment from Germany over 21 years has reached 8 billion dollars. I would like to assure you that ensuring the security of German investments is under our special control," Qasym-Jomart Toqaev noted.
The two sides paid particular attention to strengthening trade and economic cooperation. As was emphasized, today the joint investment portfolio includes 40 industrial projects with a total value of about 54 billion dollars. In this context, the President of Kazakhstan noted the productive and coordinated work of the Intergovernmental Working Group and the Kazakhstan–Germany Business Council.
The head of state emphasized Germany's significant role in modern world politics and the economy. According to him, the country's industrial power, scientific school, and the culture of responsible work of the German people rightly enjoy high international prestige.
The President of Kazakhstan and the German Chancellor also considered issues of expanding cultural and humanitarian interaction, including the implementation of joint initiatives in education and science. The two sides expressed confidence that the results of Qasym-Jomart Toqaev's official visit to Germany will help achieve even greater results for the well-being and prosperity of both countries.
Following the talks, the head of our state invited Chancellor Friedrich Merz to visit Kazakhstan on a state visit.
