President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in New Delhi, infohub.kz reports.
The head of state congratulated the Indian prime minister on the successful hosting of the BRICS summit, praising the flawless organization of the large-scale international event.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted India's leading position in the global economy, its outstanding achievements in science and technology, and its high standing on the world stage.
"Under your wise and strong leadership, the country is confidently advancing along the path of progress and sustainable development," the president said.
The head of state emphasized that Kazakh-Indian relations are developing dynamically across a wide range of areas.
"Today, around 600 companies with Indian capital are successfully operating in Kazakhstan. Last year, about 150,000 Indian citizens visited our country. A significant number of Indian students are studying in Kazakhstan. We also cooperate fruitfully within international organizations," Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.
Narendra Modi thanked the head of our state for participating in the BRICS summit, noting the president of Kazakhstan's inspiring speech filled with relevant initiatives.
The Indian prime minister emphasized that he attaches particular importance to friendly and trusting relations with Kazakhstan.
The interlocutors discussed a number of specific issues on the bilateral agenda, including cooperation in energy, digitalization, education, and tourism.
According to Narendra Modi, Kazakhstan and India have significant potential in high technology and creative industries. In this regard, interaction between the technology ecosystems of Astana (Astana Hub) and Hyderabad (Cyberabad) appears highly promising.
The Indian prime minister invited representatives of Kazakhstan, especially young people, to take part in the WAVES creative industries summit, which will be held in Mumbai next year.
During the meeting, the leaders also examined opportunities for developing cooperation between India and the Eurasian Economic Union.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated that Kazakhstan, as EAEU chair, welcomes the negotiation process to create a free trade zone between the EAEU and India and is ready to help advance it.
The head of state invited the Indian prime minister to visit Kazakhstan on a state visit.
