Kazakh President Qasym-Jomart Toqaev has sent a congratulatory telegram to Norway's King Haakon VIII on his ascension to the throne, infohub.kz reports.
In the telegram, the head of state noted: "This momentous event opens a new chapter in the centuries-long history of the Norwegian monarchy — an unshakeable symbol of continuity, unity and an integral part of national identity. I am confident that your devoted service will contribute to the country's further development and the well-being of its people."
The Kazakh president also expressed confidence that, through joint efforts, Kazakh-Norwegian cooperation will continue to strengthen.
Recall that on August 28, Norway's King Harald V died at the age of 89. He is reported to have passed away peacefully in hospital. Following news of Harald V's death, it became known that the throne passed immediately to his son, Haakon.
Earlier, Qasym-Jomart Toqaev sent a telegram of condolences to Norway's King Haakon VIII over the passing of his father, King Harald V.
On September 9, Kazakhstan's ambassador to Norway, Adil Tursunov, took part in the state funeral of King Harald V, which was held in Oslo.
