President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a decree appointing Bakyt Maratovich Nurmukhanov, a judge of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as Deputy Chairman of the Constitutional Court. This was reported by infohub.kz.
"By decree of the head of state, judge of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurmukhanov Bakyt Maratovich has been appointed Deputy Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan," the Akorda said in a statement.
According to the Constitutional Court, Bakyt Nurmukhanov was born on May 13, 1979. He graduated from East Kazakhstan State University with a degree in Law.
He began his career as a lecturer at the Department of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure of the Faculty of Law at East Kazakhstan State University.
From 2003 to 2006, he served as a consultant in the legal department, chief expert in the legal support department, chief expert, chief consultant, and head of the analytical work sector of the legal expertise department of the staff of the Constitutional Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
He also held the positions of adviser to the chairman of the Constitutional Council (2006–2011), head of the legal expertise department (2011–2017), and head of the staff of the Constitutional Council (2017–2022).
From 2008 to 2022, he combined his duties with those of liaison officer for the European Commission for Democracy through Law of the Council of Europe (Venice Commission). He was appointed judge of the Constitutional Court effective January 1, 2023.
Recall that on September 18, Elvira Azimova was reappointed as chairman of the Constitutional Court by a presidential decree.
