Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev presented Russian President Vladimir Putin with a symbolic gift during his official visit to Omsk: a painting depicting 19th-century scholar Shokan Ualikhanov and writer Fyodor Dostoevsky, as reported by infohub.kz.
According to a statement from the Akorda presidential palace, "the head of state presented a painting featuring Shokan Ualikhanov and Fyodor Dostoevsky."
Tokayev traveled to Omsk to attend the 22nd Kazakhstan-Russia Interregional Cooperation Forum. During his visit, he also laid flowers at a memorial plaque dedicated to Kemel Tokayev in the city.
Later, he met with Putin, where the Kazakh leader proposed freezing the conflict in Ukraine and returning to the "Istanbul formula." Putin also commented on bilateral relations during the meeting.
Earlier, Tokayev explained why Kazakhstan is not acting as a mediator in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, emphasizing that relations between Kazakhstan and Russia have reached an unprecedentedly high level.
