At the first session of the Qazaqstan Halq Keñesi, President of Kazakhstan Qasym-Jomart Toqaev said that citizens should not give in to despondency or seek scapegoats in a historical context, infohub.kz reports.
"A correct understanding of history is one of the most important skills. Resentment toward the past is tantamount to depriving oneself of the future. What future can await a person or an entire nation that constantly looks for scapegoats and tries to justify its failures? We must avoid such outdated habits. In everyday life, too, we should not give in to despondency but maintain cheerfulness and self-confidence. We must protect the younger generation from cowardice, the tendency to blame others for everything, and excessive anxiety. They must be proud of their people's history and look confidently to our country's future," Qasym-Jomart Toqaev said.
He recalled a quote by writer Mukhtar Auezov: "If you want to build a strong state, start with raising children," and also mentioned the implementation of the "Adal Azamat" upbringing program.
"The Kazakh people have endured many severe trials, but they did not break the strength of their spirit, resilience, courage, and will to live. While preserving our ancestors' traditions, our faith, native language, and identity, we must strive for innovation and creation. We must resolutely reject alien influences that cast a shadow over our entire people, as well as outdated ideas that bring nothing but darkness and ignorance. We need to unite as a nation and shape a new ethic in society. I am confident that you—members of the Qazaqstan Halq Keñesi—will make a significant contribution to fulfilling this exceptionally important task," Toqaev added.
