President of Kazakhstan Qasym-Jomart Toqaev met with Natalya Bocharova, Secretary General of the International Organization for the Russian Language, infohub.kz reports.
According to the Akorda, the head of state stressed the fundamental importance of the organization establishing itself as a modern, authoritative and effectively functioning body focused on strengthening humanitarian ties.
The two discussed prospects for cooperation in education, science and culture. According to the president, joint projects must take balanced account of the interests of all member states.
Qasym-Jomart Toqaev also said the language should bring people together and serve mutual understanding rather than become a subject of politicization.
For her part, Natalya Bocharova thanked the head of state for his support of the organization's work and briefed him on plans for its further development.
