Kazakh President Qasym-Jomart Toqaev has rewritten the powers of the Security Council and its Apparatus: the Security Council will now protect the country from cyberattacks, regulate artificial intelligence, and prevent personal data leaks, reports infohub.kz.
The corresponding changes are enshrined in a decree "On Certain Issues of the Apparatus of the Security Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan and on Amendments and Additions to Certain Acts of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan." The head of state defined the responsibilities of the deputy chairman of the Security Council.
His tasks include: organizing control over the unconditional and full implementation of acts and instructions of the Security Council chairman and decisions of the organization; coordinating the activities of state bodies; organizing measures in the field of national security, defense capability, law and order; coordinating the Apparatus of the Security Council.
In addition, the deputy chairman of the Council will deal with information and cybersecurity, the use of artificial intelligence, personal data protection, combating corruption and economic crime, as well as civil protection.
The President also clarified the activities of the Security Council Apparatus. It is presented as an independent body subordinate to the head of state.
"The activities of the Apparatus of the Security Council are aimed at strengthening and improving control over risks in the field of national security, ensuring the sustainability of public administration, institutional support and implementation of decisions of the Chairman of the Council and directly the Security Council," the document says.
According to Toqaev, the implementation of these tasks contributes to strengthening the protection of sovereignty and independence, territorial integrity, national interests on the international stage, and the foundations of the constitutional order.
Earlier, "Kursiv" wrote that personnel appointments had taken place in the Apparatus of the Security Council of Kazakhstan.
