President of Kazakhstan Qasym-Jomart Toqaev addressed participants of the nationwide Taza Qazaqstan campaign, saying that treating nature with care, showing mutual respect and following established rules should become a habitual part of citizens' lives. The news is reported by infohub.kz.
"Moreover, this is already a constitutional duty," the head of state emphasized, speaking about caring for the environment.
According to Toqaev, American congressmen who recently visited Astana and Almaty gave a positive assessment of the cleanliness of the streets and the work of city authorities. The president also noted that foreign tourists post videos on social media about how well-maintained Kazakhstan's major cities are.
He believes that well-kept and safe public spaces shape how the country is perceived abroad. At the same time, Toqaev called improving the living conditions of Kazakhstanis themselves the main goal of such work.
"We must work not for image, but to improve the social well-being of our citizens. That is the main goal," the president said.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that Toqaev proposed developing a national standard of cleanliness and instructed akims to study the experience of the capital's Center for Urbanism, which takes residents' proposals into account when drafting urban environment projects.
