In August 2026, banks in Kazakhstan earned 213.4 billion tenge in net profit, 6% more than the previous month. Halyk Bank and Kaspi Bank retained their lead in earnings, while ForteBank returned to the top five most profitable banks, according to data from the National Bank, as reported by infohub.kz.

Halyk Bank continues to hold first place for monthly profit. In August, the bank earned 76.2 billion tenge, up 1%, or 0.6 billion tenge, from July. Halyk's net profit since the start of the year reached 615.3 billion tenge.

Kaspi Bank remained in second place with net profit of 41.8 billion tenge for August. Compared with July, the figure rose by 2%, or 0.6 billion tenge. Since the beginning of 2026, the bank has earned 309.8 billion tenge.

Bank CenterCredit kept third place. Its net profit for the month increased by 19%, from 16.4 billion to 19.5 billion tenge. BCC's cumulative result for the eight months reached 142.5 billion tenge.

Otbasy Bank took fourth place, earning 15 billion tenge in net profit in August. That is 10%, or 1.4 billion tenge, more than in July. Since the start of the year, the bank's profit amounted to 115 billion tenge.

The main change occurred in fifth place. ForteBank returned to the top five after dropping out in July and being replaced by Freedom Bank. In August, Forte earned 13.6 billion tenge, compared with 4.8 billion tenge a month earlier. Thus, the bank's monthly profit grew by 183%, or 8.8 billion tenge. Since the start of the year, Forte has earned 87.4 billion tenge in net profit.

Following the top five in August were Citibank with profit of 9.5 billion tenge, Alatau City Bank with 6.1 billion tenge, Home Credit Bank with 4.1 billion tenge, Bank RBK with 4 billion tenge, and VTB with 3.5 billion tenge.

In July, the top five looked as follows: Halyk Bank earned 75.6 billion tenge, Kaspi Bank 41.2 billion tenge, Bank CenterCredit 16.4 billion tenge, Otbasy Bank 13.6 billion tenge, and Freedom Bank 9.6 billion tenge.
