Kazakh President Qasym-Jomart Toqaev has sent a telegram of condolences to Chinese President Xi Jinping over the tragic consequences of powerful mudslides in the Tibet Autonomous Region, reports infohub.kz.

The head of state conveyed words of sympathy and support to the families and friends of the victims, and expressed hope for the speedy reunion of missing citizens with their families.

As reported earlier, a landslide occurred near the border crossing between China and Nepal. Xi Jinping ordered all efforts to be made to rescue those affected.

This morning, the death toll exceeded 160 people. Authorities in Nepal and China also reported missing citizens from several countries. Kazakhstan's Foreign Ministry said a Kazakh citizen may be among the victims. A tourist from our country crossed the border from China into Nepal as part of a tourist group.
