President of Kazakhstan Qasym-Jomart Toqaev has highlighted a significant gap in the quality of education across the country's regions. Speaking at the August teachers' conference, he singled out areas where graduate results require special attention, as reported by infohub.kz.
According to the head of state, graduates from Kyzylorda, North Kazakhstan, Pavlodar, and Kostanay regions, as well as the cities of Almaty and Astana, demonstrate high results. Another group includes five regions.
"The situation in Turkistan, Ulytau, Atyrau, Aktobe, and Almaty regions can hardly be called good," said Toqaev.
The president paid special attention to the Turkistan region. He reminded that the results of an international study also indicated problems with the quality of education in the region.
"The PISA 2022 study also showed that the quality of education in the Turkistan region leaves much to be desired. This means there are shortcomings in the region's education system. However, the situation cannot be called critical," the head of state noted.
About 75% of schoolchildren in the Turkistan region live in rural areas. Toqaev believes that these children need to be provided with conditions for full development, including through new infrastructure and attracting strong specialists to remote settlements.
"It is necessary to build the required infrastructure and attract strong specialists to remote settlements," the president stated.
Toqaev instructed the government and local administrations to accelerate this work and achieve concrete results.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that the president receives many appeals regarding the current certification rules. President Qasym-Jomart Toqaev, in turn, instructed to revise the requirements for teacher certification.
