At the first session of the Qazaqstan Halqy Keñesi, President of Kazakhstan Qasym-Jomart Toqaev addressed concerns raised by ethnocultural associations following the completion of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan (ANK). The head of state assured that the structure's accumulated experience and developments will continue to function within the new body, reports infohub.kz.
"The ANK has indeed completed its work, but this does not mean that the useful institutional infrastructure it created will go unused. I want to assure you: the unique experience of the ANK remains relevant, it will by no means be consigned to oblivion, and will be used in the work of the Halqy Keñesi," the head of state emphasized.
The President noted that strengthening unity remains a matter of exceptional importance, and support for ethnocultural centers, theaters, and media is a constitutional duty of the state. Toqaev added that the Assembly's historical role is not being diminished, but rather the institution is being strengthened at a new political level.
The President paid special attention to cultural heritage and patrons' initiatives. As an example, he cited Semey, where reconstruction of the Fyodor Dostoevsky Literary and Memorial Museum has begun using sponsor funds.
"In my view, a careful attitude toward our common cultural heritage is becoming critically important. Such heritage should not have state borders," the President noted.
In addition, Qasym-Jomart Toqaev called for developing the institution of mediation to prevent conflicts and to give impetus to youth, sports, and volunteer organizations.
