Organizers of the Tour de France have introduced checks of cyclists' bras before races to prevent the use of inserts that artificially increase breast size, reports infohub.kz.

The International Cycling Union (UCI) has issued an official statement saying that all female riders must arrive for the final check no later than ten minutes before the start for control of the bike and equipment. The check will be conducted by a female UCI commissaire.

The move comes after complaints from several Women's WorldTour teams that some riders were abusing breast size in time trial events. According to them, riders were inserting special pads into their sports bras to increase breast volume and gain an aerodynamic advantage. Previously, such violations were hardly controlled.

The UCI stressed that such methods are unacceptable.
