Even as flashy, tech-packed Chinese sedans flood the market, some car enthusiasts still prefer a used Toyota Corolla. Owners of the twelfth-generation E210 sedan explain what drew them to the model, what they praise about it and which shortcomings they put up with, according to infohub.kz.
One owner switched from a Volkswagen Polo to a 2021 gasoline Corolla with 48,000 km on the clock. Among the pluses he cited a soft suspension, good handling and adaptive cruise control. His main complaint is weak sound insulation. Still, on long trips the Corolla proved more comfortable than his previous sedan.
Another driver traded a Honda Fit for a hybrid Corolla with a 1.8-liter engine. He was drawn to the comfortable seats, the familiar climate control layout and the fuel economy. According to the owner, highway consumption is about 4.8 liters per 100 km, while in the city, driving gently, you can stay within 3 liters. On the downside, he notes the awkward shape of the rear door opening and the fixed rear seatback.
Yet another enthusiast moved to a hybrid Corolla after a Toyota Camry. He said he was looking for a reliable and economical car and was pleased with the comfort and fuel consumption. At the same time, the owner warns that under aggressive highway driving the hybrid can lose power. In his view, the sedan is better suited to calm trips.
Among the main advantages of the Corolla, the owners surveyed cite the comfortable suspension, easy seating position, the hybrid version's fuel economy and technology that service shops know well. According to them, they had no problems with consumables or maintenance.
But there were compromises. Most often owners complain about weak sound insulation and headlights, as well as the lack of some familiar features.
The authors of the roundup also remind buyers that when purchasing a car from China without a warranty, it is important to consider the condition of the specific vehicle and its trim level.
Earlier, Kursiv Auto reported that the Toyota Corolla lost to the Honda Civic in value retention. We also wrote about why the model has remained popular for 60 years.
