The legendary Toyota Land Cruiser 78 SUV has received an unusual travel version. Australian company Tailgate Campers has developed a module that turns the vehicle into a full-fledged home on wheels without drilling the body or any other modifications, reports infohub.kz citing Autoevolution.
The main feature of the Tailgate Gear Kit is that it fits entirely in the trunk and can be easily removed when needed. Inside, it includes everything necessary for travel: a pull-out double bed, a kitchen module with a gas stove, sink, and water tank, a refrigerator, pull-out drawers, tables, and additional storage compartments. All components are securely fastened and designed for off-road trips.
Unlike most campers, there is no need to cut the roof, modify the interior, or install permanent furniture. The module can be removed in a few minutes, and the Land Cruiser becomes a regular SUV again. This solution is aimed at owners of expedition vehicles who use them not only for travel but also for daily driving.
The Toyota Land Cruiser 70 Series has long been considered one of the most reliable SUVs in the world. These vehicles work in mines, expeditions, deserts, and remote areas of Australia, Africa, and the Middle East. This is why the model remains one of the most popular bases for expedition projects and camper conversions. Earlier, it was reported that Toyota brought back the iconic Land Cruiser 70 from the 1980s.
