Toyota's American division has announced a recall of 508,300 hybrid Camry sedans due to a software malfunction in the dashboard that could disable important warning signals, reports infohub.kz.
The recall affects hybrid Toyota Camry models from the 2025-2026 model years sold in the U.S. market. It was found that when the engine starts, the dashboard display may malfunction, potentially preventing the driver from seeing indicators for hazard lights, turn signals, seatbelt warnings, and Smart Key reminders. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), this defect increases the risk of a crash or injury.
The issue lies in the dashboard software. Owners of affected vehicles will not have to pay for the fix: Toyota dealers will update the display software for free. Official statements refer only to cars sold in the American market.
It is not yet clear whether this campaign affects Toyota vehicles sold in Kazakhstan. However, owners of American Camrys should check if their car is included in the recall.
