US President Donald Trump said American armed forces will not strike Iran at least until November 3, the date of the US midterm elections. The White House chief made the statement on his Truth Social page, according to infohub.kz.
"We are holding productive talks with the Islamic Republic of Iran. I want everyone to clearly understand: although Iran's position, both economically and militarily, is extremely dire, and the blockade remains fully in place," Trump wrote.
He also noted that record volumes of oil are passing through the Strait of Hormuz — 22 million barrels in the past night alone, with not a single barrel sent from or to Iran.
"We will not strike Iran before the US midterm elections on November 3. Iran will not have nuclear weapons!" the US president emphasized.
Earlier, at a rally in Nebraska, Donald Trump suggested two US cities could be destroyed in a conflict with Iran. This drew criticism from California officials: Governor Gavin Newsom said the American leader is "unhinged and dangerous."
In addition, today Trump said the conflict with Iran will be resolved soon, as the country no longer poses a nuclear threat to the United States.
