US President Donald Trump has acknowledged that the war in Iran affected the results of the congressional elections and weighed in on the likelihood of impeachment, infohub.kz reports.

According to the White House chief, the war in Iran likely did influence the Republican Party's results in the congressional elections. He also acknowledged that high gasoline prices may have played a role in the Republicans' defeat.

At the same time, the American leader stressed that he is not backing away from his decision on Iran. "If I had to do it again, I would do it again, because in the long term it is the only answer. You cannot allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon," he said.

Donald Trump also commented on rumors of a possible impeachment that Democrats may now seek against him. "Impeachment without cause... For what? For having a successful country? Our country is now more successful than at any time in its history," he said.

The US president said he has no concerns about Democrats potentially impeaching him after their victory in the midterm elections. According to him, such a move would deal a catastrophic blow to their own party. "I think it will destroy the Democratic Party if they do it," Trump said.
