US President Donald Trump pushed back against a proposal to pause the rapid development of artificial intelligence, which had been put forward by Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei. According to the American leader, such initiatives are driven by "very negative forces who exaggerate the risks and raise questions about unlikely scenarios," infohub.kz reports.
Trump noted that the United States could impose certain restrictions on AI companies if necessary. However, in his view, critics of the technology "talk about things that won't happen."
"We're ahead of China on AI. We're the most advanced country in the world, and frankly, I want to keep it that way, because whoever wins the AI race wins it all," the US President said.
Recall that earlier, the head of Anthropic — the company behind the Claude chatbot — Dario Amodei called for a pause in the rapid development of more powerful AI models. His position was supported by SpaceX founder Elon Musk and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. Musk, in particular, said that back in 2014 he had argued that AI could be "more dangerous than nuclear weapons."
