U.S. President Donald Trump said he is ready to embrace the nickname "Mr. Veto" and intends to block Democratic legislative initiatives if Democrats win the congressional elections, infohub.kz reports.
In a telephone interview with CBS News given before polling stations closed, the White House occupant set out his vision of how Congress would work over the next two years if Democrats succeed. "I have absolute power — it's called 'veto,'" the U.S. President said.
According to Trump, he is prepared to veto Democratic legislative initiatives if necessary and gladly accepts the nickname Mr. Veto, which would describe his approach to Democrats if they win a majority in the House of Representatives or the Senate.
Trump has previously said that regardless of the results and the composition of Congress next year, he is confident in his ability to advance his own agenda over the next two years.
Recall that on the morning of November 4, polling stations closed in some U.S. states for voting in the congressional elections. Democrats are reported to be leading even in districts traditionally controlled by Republicans.
