US President Donald Trump has called for ending the practice of switching clocks to standard time, saying it disrupts Americans' routines, infohub.kz reports.
According to NUR.KZ, citing RIA Novosti, the White House chief made the statement while speaking with journalists. He said the time change interferes with many citizens' lives, throws them off balance and, in his own words, "discombobulates" them.
After uttering the word, Trump compared the effect of changing clocks to a new secret sonic weapon called the "discombobulator," which he claimed the US military used during an operation in Venezuela earlier this year.
"People want light. They don't want to go around changing their clocks. Six months ago I was doing the same thing. I don't like changing clocks, and everyone is late. It discombobulates everybody," the US president told reporters during a press conference at the White House.
It is noted that back in December 2024, after his re-election as US president, Donald Trump also spoke about plans to abolish daylight saving time in the country, since, in his opinion, it costs the state dearly.
