US President Donald Trump announced after a phone call with Russian leader Vladimir Putin that a settlement of the Ukrainian conflict is close, according to infohub.kz.
"Russia — Ukraine: we will get this done (the settlement — ed.), and it is happening fast. I am on the verge of settling two more wars," the White House chief told supporters at a rally in Syracuse, New York, held in support of the Republican candidate for governor.
According to him, the second conflict will be resolved after an agreement is reached with Iran.
The Kremlin's official website also published a statement from Russian President Vladimir Putin. He noted that during the October 9 phone call with Donald Trump, considerable attention was paid to the prospects for settling the Ukrainian crisis, and the situation around Iran and various aspects of bilateral relations were also touched upon.
"When discussing the state of affairs in global energy, the Russian side confirmed its readiness to supply oil and petroleum products to the American and world markets. I am confident that this will have a positive effect on the entire global economy," the Russian president said.
Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov also commented on the results of Vladimir Putin's phone call with the White House chief. According to him, great attention was paid to the prospects for settling the conflict in Ukraine.
"Vladimir Putin made it clear that our position regarding the goals and objectives of the special military operation remains unchanged, as does our readiness for a political and diplomatic settlement aimed at achieving a long-term, sustainable peace," the Russian presidential aide said.
Recall that US President Donald Trump earlier reported a phone call with Russian leader Vladimir Putin and announced supplies of diesel fuel to the American and world markets.
