US President Donald Trump has once again commented on the prospects for resolving the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, stating that it will be settled in the near future, infohub.kz reports.

"I think the conflict between Ukraine and Russia will end in the not-too-distant future," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying. He made the remark while speaking with journalists at the Mar-a-Lago estate.

Last week, a meeting was held in Oslo involving Volodymyr Zelensky, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, and US special envoy Steven Witkoff. The very next day, the American negotiator traveled to St. Petersburg, where he presented Vladimir Putin with documents outlining approaches to resolving the Ukrainian conflict.

The Russian president, in turn, informed Witkoff that Moscow is ready to resume consultations in a trilateral format with the participation of Washington and Kyiv.

According to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, the planned meeting in Abu Dhabi will focus on security guarantees for Russia and Ukraine. No specific information about the date of the meeting is available yet.

Earlier, the Kremlin outlined Russia's position on peace with Ukraine. At that time, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow wants "a long-term peace for future generations."
