Relations between the United States and the People's Republic of China have reached their highest level in history, US President Donald Trump said following talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping, according to infohub.kz.
According to the White House chief, even despite the differences in the political systems of the two states, ties between Washington and Beijing have never been as strong as during his second presidential term.
"President Xi Jinping and I both understand that we represent different systems, but the ties between our peoples are strong, and we have never gotten along so well," Trump said, according to RIA Novosti.
For his part, Chinese President Xi Jinping described the talks with the American leader as sincere and in-depth, noting that the sides reached mutual understanding on many issues.
"Today I had a frank and in-depth exchange of views with President Donald Trump, during which we reached many new consensus points, enriched the content of constructive and stable strategic relations between China and the United States, and gave new strategic guidance to our relations," he said.
