US President Donald Trump said he rates his meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping at 12 out of 10. It was the Chinese leader's first visit to the United States in 11 years, according to infohub.kz.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump summed up his meeting with Xi. "We had a great meeting with Chairman Xi. I'd rate it a 12 on a scale of 0 to 10. Very respectful, very good. Great meeting," he said.
Trump also commented on a statement by US Ambassador to China David Perdue that during the meeting the US offered to sell military equipment to China. "What did he say? I never heard about it. They'd like to buy it because we make better equipment, so maybe it's a good idea, but we didn't discuss it," the US president said. According to him, the US ambassador to China most likely meant Taiwan.
Recall that earlier Xi Jinping made his first visit to the US in 11 years. Donald Trump presented Xi with a bald eagle sculpture during a state dinner, explaining the symbolism of the unusual gift. The White House chief also said he was delighted with the meeting with Xi and announced some grand events.
After the two leaders met, the US ambassador to China described an unexpected conversation between Trump and Xi amid disputes between Washington and Beijing over arms supplies to Taiwan.
