US President Donald Trump has floated the idea of bringing Venezuela into the United States as its 51st state. He made the remark during a speech in Texas, infohub.kz reports.

According to the White House chief, if the country were to join, it would get a governor instead of a president. "Maybe someday, soon, it will become a prosperous 51st state. It's possible. Let's do it. Let's make it the 51st state, and instead of a president we'll have a governor's election. How about that? You understand?" RBC quoted him as saying.

Earlier, Fox News journalist John Robert said that in a phone call Trump had shared his plans for Venezuela with him: according to him, the American leader had seriously considered making Venezuela the 51st US state.

Later, an image with a corresponding caption appeared on the US president's account. "51st state," Trump's post read.

In addition, the US president has said he intends to learn Spanish and lead Venezuela. The White House chief also published a map on which Venezuela had become the 51st US state.
