On the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, U.S. President Donald Trump met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, where the leaders discussed resolving the conflict with Russia, according to infohub.kz.
The American leader said he is working on how to settle the conflict in Ukraine. In his meeting with Zelensky, Trump expressed hope that the Ukrainian conflict could be resolved before winter.
"Something serious before winter," the White House chief concluded.
Trump believes that reaching a peace deal would benefit both Russia and Ukraine — peace serves the interests of both sides.
In addition, the White House chief said he is discussing the terms of a possible peace agreement with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
"I think they're going to make a deal, and I don't want to say what the deal is. We talk about it a lot, including with President Putin, and I think something should happen," he shared.
The American leader also suggested he might hold another in-person meeting with his Russian counterpart.
"We already had a meeting in Alaska. I think we'll have another one," Trump said about a possible conversation with Putin.
Recall that Volodymyr Zelensky also expressed hope for ending the conflict with Russia by winter with Donald Trump's help.
