US President Donald Trump has called on Volodymyr Zelensky and Vladimir Putin to reach an agreement. According to him, the sides are capable of coming to a deal before the onset of severe cold, reports infohub.kz.
"You know what I want from Zelensky? I want him to make a deal. I want him to make a deal with Putin, and Putin to make a deal with him," Trump said on September 26 in an interview with Fox News.
The American leader also expressed hope that Putin and Zelensky will manage to reach an agreement in the near future, "possibly before the severe cold sets in."
"I hope that someday, possibly in the near future, or maybe even before the harsh winter sets in, they will make a deal," the US president said.
Earlier, the Kremlin said that a meeting between Putin and Zelensky without preliminary work by experts would be inadvisable.
"For now there are no preconditions for entering into peace talks. Although we, as the Russian side, remain open to peace talks," said Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the Russian president, according to RBC.
Peskov also recalled the proposal for Zelensky to come to Moscow. According to him, the Ukrainian president will be given security guarantees, and he "knows perfectly well what decisions need to be made."
