US President Donald Trump said Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky is seeking to "create problems for the world" by ignoring Washington's calls not to strike Russian oil refineries. This was reported by infohub.kz.

Footage of the White House chief's exchange with journalists was published on the White House Rapid Response 47 account on social media platform X.

According to Trump, the Ukrainian president could have settled the conflict with Russia many times already, but chose not to do so.

"We said: 'You can do anything you want with Russia, just don't hit the oil refineries, because that creates a global problem.' And he wants to create problems for the world," the American leader added.

He accused Zelensky of wanting to create problems, including for American farmers and livestock producers, by provoking disruptions in diesel fuel supplies.

"Because Russia supplies a significant portion of diesel fuel to the world market," Trump said.

The Rapid Response 47 post also quotes him as saying: "You know what I suggest? I suggest they get a new leader who could make a deal, because he could have made many deals, but for some reason never does... I think it's time for Ukraine to get a new president."

Earlier, Trump also said it was time for Ukraine to elect a new president. Ukrainian authorities reacted to his statement.
