An exhibition titled "Legacy of an Era: 20th-Century Art from the Tretyakov Gallery Collection" will open in Almaty on October 9. The display will be hosted at the Abylkhan Kasteev National Museum of Arts and will be open to visitors from October 9, 2026, through January 17, 2027, according to infohub.kz.
The exhibition will feature works from the State Tretyakov Gallery collection that trace the history of Russian art from 1917 to the 1970s.
Among the pieces on show are "In the Blue Expanse" by Arkady Rylov, "The Bolshevik" by Boris Kustodiev, a sketch for "The Death of a Commissar" by Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin, as well as paintings by Alexander Deyneka, Pyotr Williams, Pyotr Konchalovsky, Ilya Mashkov and other artists.
A separate section will be devoted to the art of the 1960s. It will include works by Viktor Popkov, Dmitry Zhilinsky, Yevsey Moiseyenko, Pyotr Ossovsky and other artists of that period. According to museum director Gulaim Zhumabekova, this will be the largest international exhibition of 2026.
