The family of triplets who died at a maternity hospital in Kaskelen has filed a police complaint, demanding an investigation into the doctors' actions. Medical staff insist they followed protocol, reports infohub.kz.
Aidana Orazbaeva, 28, gave birth to three sons in the sixth month of her pregnancy. She was informed almost immediately that two of the babies had died. Later, the family learned the third child had also died. This was Orazbaeva's third pregnancy; she and her husband are raising two other children. She had spent the last month in the hospital undergoing treatment to maintain the pregnancy. On the day of delivery, she briefly left the hospital to go home, after which her water broke.
Aidana was advised to have a cesarean section, but the delivery proceeded naturally. Relatives said they were told a C-section was necessary but were forced to let her give birth naturally. "They said they should have done a C-section, but for some reason they made Aidana give birth," family member Zhazira Tuleshova recounted. "By morning, she herself wrote to her husband that two children had died. The doctors said the third was in the neonatal unit. We went to bury the two infants. Then we found out the third had also died. Why did the doctors hide this from us?"
According to family members, they were only given the bodies of two newborns, with no information about the cause of death. They are now waiting to retrieve the body of the third child. The family has filed a complaint with the police and is demanding a forensic medical examination and DNA testing of all three infants.
The hospital stated that the woman was urgently hospitalized and that all three children were born at 25 weeks' gestation with extremely low birth weight — less than 500 grams each. According to medical staff, at that stage of development, vital organs including the lungs and central nervous system are not fully formed. The facility emphasized that doctors strictly followed protocol. The exact cause of death will be determined by forensic experts.
Earlier, in the Almaty region, a newborn died a few days after birth, prompting an internal investigation at the hospital.
