A truck collided with a herd of cattle that had wandered onto the roadway at an unauthorized location on a national highway in Kazakhstan during the hours of darkness. AI cameras recorded the incident, promptly detecting the dangerous situation and alerting operators, and road services were dispatched to the scene, according to infohub.kz.
According to QazAvtoJol, protective mesh fencing is being installed along national roads at potentially hazardous sections to prevent animals from entering the roadway. However, the problem persists: some owners leave their livestock unattended, and there have also been cases of damage to and theft of road fencing components.
The company appealed to livestock owners, urging them not to leave their animals unattended and to prevent them from wandering onto highways. "At night, a driver may see an animal only seconds before a collision. People's lives are at risk," the statement said.
QazAvtoJol also addressed the public separately, stressing that stealing or damaging road fencing is not merely a matter of property damage. An open section can become a point where animals enter the highway and cause a serious crash.
Drivers were asked to reduce speed and exercise heightened vigilance on sections marked with "Livestock Crossing" and "Wild Animals" road signs, especially during the hours of darkness and in conditions of limited visibility.
"Livestock must be supervised. Fencing must remain in place. And drivers must be prepared for danger. On the road, the price of carelessness can be a human life," QazAvtoJol added.
