An attempt to illegally bring a large consignment of chicken eggs into Kazakhstan has been thwarted at the border with Russia, as a truck carrying 20 tons of the product was not allowed to enter the country, reports infohub.kz.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic, the incident occurred at the veterinary control post "Syrym" in the West Kazakhstan region. Officials stopped a truck traveling from Samara (Russia) to Astana for inspection.
During the check, it was found that the transportation of 20 tons of food-grade chicken eggs was carried out without the veterinary accompanying documents required by law. As a result, the vehicle and its cargo were sent back. The driver was issued an administrative fine.
Representatives of the carrier were also briefed on the veterinary legislation requirements of Kazakhstan and the Eurasian Economic Union.
The Ministry of Agriculture reminded that since April 21, 2026, a six-month ban has been in effect on the import of chicken eggs into Kazakhstan by all types of transport from third countries and EAEU member states. These measures are aimed at regulating the import of this product and ensuring the veterinary-sanitary and epizootic well-being of the country.
