Trump visited the Detroit area and delivered a speech at General Motors' proving grounds in Milford. The visit came less than 100 days before the midterm elections, which will determine the composition of the House of Representatives. Trump told GM workers that he is the first sitting president to visit the historic Milford plant, which opened in 1924 as the world's first dedicated automotive testing center. He also added that his 25% tariff on imported medium- and heavy-duty trucks is intended to protect American manufacturing. CBS News posted a clip of Trump's remarks on social media platform X.
