US President Donald Trump has ordered the preparation of a package of documents aimed at ending the war between Russia and Ukraine. Washington also intends to resume trilateral talks involving Moscow, Kyiv, and the United States, said US special envoy Jared Kushner following meetings in the Ukrainian capital, as reported by infohub.kz.

The contents of the new package have not yet been disclosed, nor has a date for a possible trilateral meeting been set.

US special envoy Steve Witkoff said that negotiations between Russia, Ukraine, and the United States could take place in the near future. According to him, the American delegation presented new ideas for a settlement in Moscow, which were then discussed with the Ukrainian side.

Witkoff believes that significant progress was made during the meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"We heard new ideas. You heard Zelensky talk about trilateral talks, which we hope will be announced soon. In Moscow, we discussed many other important and substantive ideas that we brought here to Kyiv," he said.

The US aims to achieve a breakthrough before winter.

According to Axios, Witkoff and Kushner hope to achieve a breakthrough in negotiations before winter sets in.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told the American delegation that the country is preparing for continued hostilities during the winter period.

However, as Financial Times writes, Kyiv considers it unlikely that the war will end before the cold weather arrives.

"It looks like the war will continue through the winter," Zelensky said.

During the talks, the parties also discussed support for Ukraine during the winter amid possible intensified Russian strikes on energy infrastructure.

One of the key topics was the future of Donbas. Details of the territorial discussions were not disclosed.

Outcomes of the talks in Kyiv

Witkoff and Kushner met twice with Zelensky and his advisors. Representatives of the UK, France, and Germany later joined the discussions.

An Axios source said the meetings "went well." The American side intends to continue working on an updated peace proposal.

Witkoff called the talks substantive and important.

"We are very encouraged and ready to continue working for as long as it takes," he said.

Kushner emphasized that the US seeks not only to stop the current hostilities but also to create conditions that would prevent a new war.

"It is important not just to find a way to end the current war, but also to create conditions and agreements for a long-term and sustainable peace," Kushner said.

Zelensky said that Kyiv has prepared its own proposals. Among Ukraine's main demands, he cited reliable security guarantees and an agreement that would rule out the possibility of a new attack.

What was discussed in Moscow

For Witkoff and Kushner, this was their first official visit to Ukraine as American negotiators. The day before, they spent more than three hours in a meeting with Putin in the Kremlin.

The Russian side called the conversation constructive and useful. The White House said the participants discussed next steps, which will be presented in the coming weeks.

No specific agreements have been announced following the talks in Moscow and Kyiv.
